 Job Title: Human Resource Business Partner

Overall Purpose of the Job
The Human Resource Business Partner (HRBP) works closely with designated department heads and forms strategic partnerships across the HR department. This role is responsible for delivering value-added services to both management and employees that align with the organization’s business values and objectives.

Duties, Roles and Responsibilities

  • The HR Business Partner provides day-to-day guidance to management on performance management, including coaching, career development, counseling, and disciplinary actions.

  • They handle and resolve complex employee-relations issues and offer mentorship to less experienced HR professionals.

  • This role involves developing a comprehensive people plan tailored to the needs of specific business units, aligned with the broader HR strategy.

  • The HRBP implements talent management processes across departments and offers strategic insights to enhance operational and HR performance.

  • Supporting the implementation of business strategies across departments, the HRBP advises on workforce planning, departmental restructuring, and succession planning.

  • They ensure that HR practices are applied effectively and in compliance with legal standards.

  • The HRBP collaborates with other HR teams to analyze trends and metrics, aiming to improve HR solutions, processes, and programs.

  • They play a key role in assessing and optimizing productivity through the validation and application of relevant metrics.

  • Building and maintaining strong relationships across the organization is a critical function.

  • The HRBP conducts regular meetings with departments and fosters trust with departmental leaders.

  • They also manage complex employee relations cases, supporting formal appeals and hearings while guiding managers on best practices.

  • In partnership with department heads, the HRBP assists in understanding compensation and rewards systems, as well as training and development opportunities.

  • The role includes working with stakeholders to ensure they access relevant labor and development programs and contributes to the design of new or improved initiatives.

  • Maintaining up-to-date knowledge of employment laws and regulatory requirements is essential.

  • The HRBP ensures compliance and helps mitigate legal risks, while fostering employee satisfaction and retention.

Qualifications, Education and Competencies

Education: A bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Psychology, Business, or a related field is required. Additional qualifications in people management such as CIPD, SHRM, and membership with HRMAU are also expected.

Experience, Skills, and Competencies:

  • A minimum of two years’ experience in a junior HR role is required, preferably within a supportive HR function.

  • Candidates must have a solid understanding of multiple HR disciplines.


Communication Skills: Excellent communication is essential, given the constant interaction with employees, management, and stakeholders.

Technical Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint is necessary to create engaging reports, presentations, and proposals for various audiences.

Analytical Skills: Strong analytical abilities are required to gather, interpret, and present data, as well as to make informed recommendations.

Interpersonal Skills: The ideal candidate is calm, professional, and supportive, especially during periods of uncertainty.

People Skills: This role requires someone who can earn the trust and respect of management and departmental heads, fostering collaborative and productive working relationships.
