Role Overview
As the Senior Manager – Products & Services, you will lead the strategic development of MTN’s product and service portfolio across Consumer, Digital, and Customer Value Management (CVM) segments. You will oversee the end-to-end lifecycle—from ideation to launch and beyond—working closely with cross-functional teams to ensure alignment with business goals, profitability, and customer satisfaction.

Duties, Roles and Responsibilities
Qualifications, Education and Competencies
Strategic Leadership & Portfolio Management
Define and steer the telco product and service strategy in harmony with MTN Group's mission, vision, and business priorities.
Develop short- to long-term roadmaps, perform product reviews, and monitor performance and market fit.
Identify opportunities to enhance value, eliminate inefficiencies, and extend offerings beyond traditional mobile services into broader ICT domains.
Support product managers in Consumer, Digital, and CVM segments to drive innovation and execution.
Innovation & Collaboration
Ideate, plan, and oversee the design and development of market-leading products and services.
Lead cross-disciplinary efforts to embed MTN’s strategic themes into product design and customer experience.
Forecast market trends and anticipate customer needs for proactive product development.
Service Delivery & Experience
Deliver seamless customer experiences across all touchpoints, including self-service and device enablement.
Ensure the rollout of products aligns with EPIC/BRIGHT frameworks, with a focus on usability and customer satisfaction.
Monitor performance metrics and analyze user feedback to continuously refine service delivery.
Device Strategy & Market Insight
Drive device portfolio strategy—ranging, compatibility, and optimization—aligned with IT and Network strategies.
Conduct research on user behavior and industry trends to better tailor device offerings and improve adoption and distribution.
Financial & Market Analysis
Lead profitability assessments and product positioning analyses to inform strategic decisions.
Manage product budgets and business cases to ensure strong ROI and operational scalability.
Maintain oversight of product spend and performance across planning cycles.
Stakeholder & People Management
Lead a team of five direct reports and coordinate cross-functional (matrix) teams to support strategy and execution.
Collaborate closely with internal departments—Sales & Distribution, Network, Customer Experience, Finance, Risk, CPG, and more—to drive alignment and value creation.
Qualifications
Education:
BCom or Marketing degree; postgraduate qualification (MBA or Marketing) is advantageous.
Experience:
Minimum 7 years in the field with at least 5 years in product management or equivalent roles.
Proven experience managing product lifecycles and working in agile environments.
Strong business acumen, organizational skills, and leadership capability.
Technical & Soft Skills:
Skilled in project management, strategic planning, stakeholder engagement, and creative problem-solving.
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, including MS Project and Excel.
Exceptional people, coaching, and relationship-building skills.
Behavioral Attributes:
Assertive and proactive, with courage to challenge norms and drive change.
Resilient—focused and adaptive under pressure.
Customer-centric, innovative, and purpose-driven.
Excellent conflict management and influencing skills.
