About the Role
As the Regional Sales Manager for either the Western or Eastern region, you will be responsible for executing MTN Uganda’s distribution strategy, managing sales teams, partners, and franchisees to drive performance across prepaid airtime, gross connections, devices, and digital products.
This position is key to expanding MTN’s retail footprint, increasing market penetration, and ensuring excellence in customer experience and brand representation across regional outlets.

Duties, Roles and Responsibilities
Sales & Distribution Execution
Deliver regional sales targets across key performance areas: Prepaid Revenue, Gross Connections, e-Airtime penetration, Devices, and Digital Services.
Drive cost-effective acquisition strategies while managing subscriber acquisition costs and channel promotions.
Develop, implement, and monitor channel and distribution strategies tailored to regional market dynamics.
Expand MTN’s retail universe through new franchise partnerships and optimized routes to market.
Channel & Partner Management
Identify, appoint, and oversee performance of distributors, franchisees, and retail touchpoints.
Ensure the trade channel offers competitive depth, coverage, customer experience, and brand visibility.
Lead planning and forecasting for regional stock management and distribution supply chain coordination.
Execute and monitor merchandising and in-store brand activations across the region.
Team Leadership & Development
Lead and coach regional sales teams and territory managers, ensuring alignment with business goals.
Foster high levels of team engagement, retention, and performance through effective leadership and regular performance reviews.
Train and support distribution partners and franchisees in MTN systems, products, and customer experience standards.
Customer Experience & Brand Compliance
Implement MTN’s customer experience blueprint across all regional trade and retail environments.
Monitor compliance with internal policies, legal and regulatory frameworks, and branding standards.
Ensure retail touchpoints maintain adequate stock and operational readiness to meet customer demand.
Business Intelligence & Analytics
Leverage market insights and performance data to drive continuous improvement in channel efficiency and effectiveness.
Support expansion strategies using BI tools to identify high-potential areas for growth.
Coordinate with the network team to align sales operations with infrastructure rollouts and expansions.
Qualifications, Education and Competencies
Education
Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Business Administration, Commerce, or a related field.
Experience
Minimum 3 years’ experience in telecom or service industry sales and distribution.
4–5 years’ experience in retail/channel development, business analysis, and product evaluation.
Prior exposure to telecom or FMCG market analytics is an added advantage.
Technical Skills
Strong knowledge of retail and channel development practices.
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Access, and PowerPoint.
Data-driven mindset with advanced analytical skills.
Expertise in sales, negotiation, and promotional planning.
Behavioral & Leadership Competencies
Highly organized with strong time management and multitasking abilities.
Excellent interpersonal, communication, and team leadership skills.
High business acumen and results-oriented.
Able to work independently and manage teams across a large geographical area.
Valid driver’s license and minimum two years’ driving experience required.
