Job Description

The role involves conducting radiographic imaging procedures in accordance with set protocols to support the diagnosis and clinical management of patients. The Radiographer will also ensure radiation safety, maintain radiographic equipment, manage stock and supplies, and uphold patient confidentiality and professional ethics. The position requires working closely with other medical professionals, maintaining accurate records, participating in staff capacity building, and reporting any equipment issues or patient-related concerns to the medical referent.

Duties, Roles and Responsibilities

  • Perform radiographic imaging and promptly report issues concerning patients’ health status

  • Prepare patients for X-ray procedures, ensure confidentiality, and use appropriate protective gear

  • Enforce radiation safety regulations for patients and staff

  • Maintain hygiene in the X-ray room and ensure proper cleaning and waste disposal

  • Ensure radiography equipment is functional and report any malfunction

  • Conduct inventory checks and manage stock requisitions

  • Perform quality assurance and minor maintenance of biomedical equipment

  • Ensure adherence to ethical standards and MTI Code of Conduct

  • Mentor and supervise direct reports, conduct evaluations, and enforce policies

  • Submit timely and accurate reports

  • Carry out any other duties as assigned

Qualifications, Education and Competencies

Education & Certification:

  • Diploma in Medical Radiography

  • Registered with Allied Health Professionals Council

  • Valid practicing license

Experience:

  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience in radiography

  • Experience with international NGOs is an added advantage


Knowledge:

  • Radiography best practices and hygiene/IPC protocols


Skills:

  • Proficiency in radiographic imaging and image interpretation

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills

  • Fluent in English (spoken and written)


Abilities:

  • Maintain confidentiality and adhere to professional ethics

  • Treat all patients and staff with respect and without discrimination

  • Provide compassionate and patient-centered care

  • Keep accurate records and follow guidelines

  • Align with MTI’s mission and values


Physical Conditions:

  • Work in remote health facilities with basic living conditions may be required
