Job Description
The Forestry Operations Manager will be responsible for the strategic and operational management of all plantation activities across BFC’s forests. The role involves ensuring all forestry activities are executed to professional standards in line with the Annual Plan of Operations (APO), meeting EHS (Environmental, Health and Safety) targets, enhancing productivity, and contributing to business development initiatives. The Manager will coordinate with internal departments including community relations, marketing, and plantation management, supervise staff and contractors, and report to senior management regularly.
Duties, Roles and Responsibilities
Oversee all plantation activities as per company standards and the APO.
Ensure EHS compliance and foster a safe working environment in plantation areas.
Maintain productive relations with stakeholders, including communities and interest groups.
Support business development initiatives to promote forest product marketability.
Handle customer service requirements and corporate communication.
Collaborate with Plantation Managers to generate monthly work orders and approve completed tasks.
Implement and coordinate the Integrated Fire Management Plan (IFMP).
Recruit, manage, and evaluate contractors within the forestry department.
Supervise plantation and harvesting teams, and design efficient work plans.
Ensure proper documentation of production and chemical usage.
Liaise with forest security to address any incidents.
Compile and submit regular reports to the Country Manager.
Perform other duties as assigned by management.
Qualifications, Education and Competencies
Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Forestry
