Job Summary
Kijani Forestry is looking for a strategic, systems-oriented Human Resource Manager to drive high performance, structure, and operational clarity across our growing team. This role blends hands-on execution with strategic leadership—owning everything from exceptional recruitment and legal compliance to performance systems and decentralised work readiness. You will build and implement HR systems that clarify who does what, when, and how—and ensure they work seamlessly.
Key Outcomes
Exceptional Talent Acquisition: Hire top-tier candidates quickly, efficiently, and accurately.
Reduced Turnover: Monitor and analyse staff attrition and implement strategies to improve retention.
Organisational Clarity: Clear, consistent policies, workflows, org charts, onboarding, and performance processes across all teams.
Streamlined Operations: Clean, up-to-date HR data that supports decision-making at all levels.
Duties, Roles and Responsibilities
Core Responsibilities
1. Strategic HR Leadership
Define and lead the HR vision around structure, performance, compliance, and communication.
Provide strategic advice to senior leadership on organisational design, change management, and workforce planning.
Champion employee engagement, talent development, and succession planning initiatives.
Foster a high-performance culture aligned with Kijani’s mission and values.
2. Recruitment & Talent Acquisition
Design and implement a top-tier recruitment system that attracts and assesses the best candidates.
Build efficient, data-driven hiring processes across all departments.
Strengthen Kijani’s employer brand and ensure an outstanding candidate experience.
3. Compliance & Risk Management
Ensure full compliance with Ugandan labour laws—including contracts, NSSF, disciplinary procedures, and employee exits.
Maintain audit-ready HR governance systems and documentation.
Oversee whistleblowing procedures and promote a culture of integrity and accountability.
4. Systems & Process Management
Lead the transformation of HR systems to support scaling operations.
Keep employee records accurate and up-to-date.
Continuously improve onboarding, offboarding, and internal movement processes.
Manage payroll review processes and ensure fair, timely, and well-documented compensation, benefits, and bonus systems.
Create and maintain clear Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for all HR activities.
5. Performance & Internal Communication
Oversee performance management cycles and coach managers to deliver effective, timely feedback.
Clearly communicate HR policies and ensure all staff understand their responsibilities and timelines.
Plan and manage the HR budget, tracking all people-related costs to ensure efficiency and sustainability.
