Job Description
We are looking for 2 District Support Coordinators (DSC), who will operate from Amolator (1 DSC) and Kwania (1 DSC) Districts, Uganda, to ensure UCatchUp, a form of foundational learning, is delivered to learners of government-supported primary schools. Position in the organisation
- You collaborate closely with the Primary Teachers’ College (PTC) and District Education Office (DEO) to support institutionalising UCatchUp by building the capacity of PTC and district stakeholders on UCatchUp delivery, coordination and management.
- You support district stakeholders in monitoring UCatchUp implementation and learner progress, among others through regular coordination meetings. You ensure appropriate planning at PTC and district level and share these plans to inform the national planning processes.
- The District Support Coordinator reports to the Education Manager. You are part of and work closely with your direct colleagues of the Programme Team and with the Project Coordinators when relevant. Furthermore, you work closely with all other departments in your country.
Duties, Roles and Responsibilities
- Offer technical advice, guidance and support to partners and align and collaborate with internal VVOB colleagues to achieve project results and realise the educational change processes supported by the project.
- Contribute to the identification, formulation, budgeting, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of the project in order to realise educational change processes supported by the project.
- Take up a variety of roles in the capacity development process of the partners according to the needs of the partner and particular situations and phases of the programme.
- Keep abreast with policy trends, new developments and latest research and thinking in education and international development by external and internal networking and share new insights with partners and VVOB colleagues.
- Provide detailed reports for all activities implemented at the District and School level.
- If you’re our District Support, your workweek at the office will include the following highlights:
- You meet with the Deputy Principal, Outreach of the PTC, to finalise arrangements for an upcoming training session for 1,000 new UCatchUp teachers. You organise a training session for district stakeholders to build their capacity to use UCatchUp data for decision-making.
- You travel to some of the schools in your district with the district education officials to monitor the delivery of UCatchUp lessons and provide feedback to the MEAL Advisor and Project Coordinator
- You work closely with the operations department to prepare accountability documents for past activities and new activity sheets, including budgets, for upcoming UCatchUp activities with master trainers and instructors.
- You will prepare and present district-level progress reports to your colleagues at the Kampala office and to the relevant district-level offices of the MoES and local partners.
- You will present at district inter-coordination meetings on VVOB Uganda’s work in your region (Amolatar/Kwania) and on how we are contributing to improving learner outcomes. You will share feedback with the Education Manager and the District Education Officer.
- You join a virtual team check-in meeting to share updates on your work and hear from colleagues, too.
