Job Description
As an Education Advisor, you provide technical support focusing on training of partners, Development of Teaching Learning Support Materials (TLSMs), capacity development of VVOB staff and partners, planning, implementation and monitoring of the project.
The Education Advisor reports to the Education Manager. You are part of and work closely with your direct colleagues of the Programme Team and with the Project Coordinator when relevant. Furthermore, you work closely together with all other departments in your country, specifically the Strategic Education Advisors in your country, and with the Global Strategic Education Advisors at HQ.
Duties, Roles and Responsibilities
- Offer technical advice, guidance and support to internal VVOB colleagues to achieve project results and to partners in order to realise educational change processes supported by the project.
- Contribute to the identification, formulation, budgeting, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of the project in order to realise educational change processes supported by the project.
- Take up a variety of roles in the capacity development process of the partners according to the needs of the partner and particular situations and phases of the programme;
- Keep abreast with policy trends, new developments and latest research and thinking in education and international development by external and internal networking and share new insights with partners and VVOB colleagues.
- If you’re our Education Advisor, your workweek at the office will include the following highlights:
- You meet with representatives of NCDC, MoES, and the District Language Board to review and translate UCatchUp teaching and learning materials to a new local language.
- You prepare a concept note for your upcoming travel to the PTC to support Master Trainers in training 1,000 new UCatchUp teachers
- Together with the Strategic Education Advisor, Research and the MEAL Advisor, you have a meeting with our international knowledge partner to review emerging evidence from the process evaluation and reflect on how the findings can improve the delivery of UCatchUp with higher fidelity of implementation.
- Next, you meet with the District Support Coordinators and Master Trainers to incorporate lessons learned from the evidence to prepare the content of the next refresher training for teachers and mentors.
- You have a check-in meeting with the Programme Team to share updates on your work and hear from colleagues too.
- You represent VVOB at an event, presenting results and lessons learned from supporting the scale-up of UCatchUp. After the presentation, you network with partners from other implementing organisations.
