Position Title: Human Resource Manager – Uganda (For Ugandan Nationals Only)

We are seeking a qualified and experienced Human Resource Manager to oversee HR operations in Uganda. This role is suited for a strategic and hands-on HR professional who can provide practical, consistent, and proactive support across the organization. The successful candidate will be instrumental in aligning HR policies and initiatives with the company's overall objectives, ensuring legal compliance, employee well-being, and operational efficiency.

  • Offer expert guidance on HR policies, procedures, rewards, legislation, and best practices.

  • Support division managers and HR teams to meet organizational goals.

  • Ensure consistent and professional HR practices across the company.

How to Apply


  • Lead and manage the central HR function to ensure optimal performance.

  • Mentor, appraise, and guide HR staff; define KPIs, KRAs, and ensure departmental compliance.

  • Develop and implement HR strategies aligned with organizational objectives and submit monthly performance reports.

  • Oversee departmental budget planning and control HR expenditure within corporate guidelines.

  • Ensure accurate and timely data entry and report generation via ERP systems.

  • Collaborate with other departments to align HR support with their specific needs.

  • Monitor legal compliance, suggest policy amendments, and implement statutory updates.

  • Guide new managers and provide coaching on complex HR issues.

  • Coordinate with the recruitment team on compensation planning aligned with market trends and internal equity.

  • Address and resolve HR challenges by proposing and implementing practical solutions.

  • Develop and monitor a robust succession planning program.

  • Evaluate and manage third-party HR service providers.

  • Chair disciplinary hearings and ensure processes follow SOPs, labor laws, and collective agreements.

  • Lead internal and external audits, prepare CAR/PAR in line with ISO standards.

  • Draft and revise HR policies in alignment with corporate objectives and values.

  • Ensure all practices conform to the Environmental Management System (EMS).

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resource Management from a recognized institution.

  • Master’s degree in HR Management, Business Administration, or a related field is preferred.

Experience:

  • Minimum of 5 years in a similar role within a large manufacturing company.

Knowledge & Skills:

  • In-depth understanding of Ugandan labor laws, workers’ compensation, NSSF, and insurance policies.

  • Strong ERP system proficiency.

  • Expertise in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).

  • Strong leadership, interpersonal, and analytical skills.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication, with the ability to explain complex data clearly.

  • High integrity, attention to detail, and a commitment to professionalism.

  • Capacity to manage multiple tasks, prioritize effectively, and influence senior stakeholders.

Language:

  • Proficiency in English. Fluency in local languages is an added advantage.

Authority & Reporting

This position reports to the General Manager – Management Services and carries full authority within the scope of HR management responsibilities.

Work Environment

  • Primarily office-based with occasional field visits for trainings and site assessments.

  • Regular working hours with flexibility required for overtime, weekends, and on-call duty when necessary.

  • Role is not physically demanding but may require mental agility and problem-solving under pressure.
