Job Title: Global HR Business Partner & Practice Lead – Africa Region
Organization: ChildFund
Duty Station: Kampala (Uganda), Nairobi (Kenya), or Lusaka (Zambia)
About the Role
ChildFund is seeking a seasoned Global HR Business Partner and Practice Lead to oversee HR operations across its Africa region. This strategic leadership role reports directly to the Vice President of Human Resources and forms part of the Global HR Leadership Team. The incumbent will supervise a regional team of Country Office (CO) HR Managers and collaborate closely with regional and country leadership to align HR strategy with organizational goals.
Duties, Roles and Responsibilities
Act as a strategic advisor to the Africa Regional Director, Deputy Regional Directors, and Country Directors on all HR-related matters.
Lead and coach HR Managers in country offices to implement strategic HR initiatives and annual planning processes.
Guide regional leaders on performance management, employee engagement, and employee relations.
Lead regional talent strategy aligned with grant acquisition and fundraising efforts.
Manage complex employee relations issues and oversee internal investigations, including those involving legal counsel.
Contribute to global HR strategy and planning as a member of the senior HR leadership team.
Support senior-level recruitment, including participation in interviews and offer reviews.
Oversee the development of country-specific HR policies and ensure labor law compliance.
Conduct exit interviews for senior management positions and support succession planning.
Analyze HR data to identify trends and develop action plans for improvement.
Partner with the Global Shared Services team to ensure data quality and integrity.
Supervise annual compensation benchmarking and payroll processes.
Coordinate with the global Safety & Security team to implement relevant strategies in each CO.
Promote and uphold ChildFund’s safeguarding policies and practices across all operations.
Qualifications, Education and Competencies
Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources or a related field (Master’s degree and/or HR certification preferred).
Minimum 9 years of progressive HR experience, with at least 5 years in a leadership role in international or development settings.
Proven experience managing geographically dispersed teams and influencing senior leadership.
Skilled in handling complex employee relations and navigating multicultural environments.
Strong background in talent management, compliance, and organizational change.
