Job Description
The Tax Compliance Consultant will work with Farmer Group Enterprises (FGEs) established by CSJ to enhance their understanding and ability to comply with Uganda Revenue Authority tax requirements. The consultant will deliver technical assistance to help FGEs register for applicable taxes, prepare accurate financial statements, compute taxes, and file both provisional and final returns. Additionally, the consultant will conduct capacity-building sessions for FGE personnel, ensuring sustainable tax compliance practices within these farmer-led businesses.
Duties, Roles and Responsibilities
Register FGEs for the appropriate tax obligations such as VAT, PAYE, etc.
Conduct training sessions to build capacity among FGEs on statutory tax compliance and return filing.
Prepare the following financial statements for each FGE:
Trial Balance
Statement of Comprehensive Income
Statement of Financial Position
Cash Flow Statement
Statement of Changes in Equity
Cash and Cash Equivalents
Prepare income tax computations for each FGE.
File both provisional and final tax returns for each FGE.
Submit supporting documentation, including:
Evidence of tax filings
Copies of prepared financial statements
Tax computations
Attendance lists confirming FGE finance staff participation in training sessions

Qualifications, Education and Competencies
A Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
CPA Uganda membership is a must
Minimum 7 years of relevant experience in Audit and Tax, especially in the agricultural or rural enterprise sectors
Strong expertise in tax laws, compliance requirements, and financial reporting
Proven experience preparing and interpreting financial statements
Excellent communication and training skills, with the ability to explain complex concepts simply
Knowledge of Luo or another Northern Uganda language is an added advantage
