Job Description
Job Title: Legal Officer – Several Positions
Organisation: TotalEnergies Uganda
Duty Station: Kampala, Uganda
Duties, Roles and Responsibilities
Conduct legal research on various topics as required
Day-to-day management of the company’s debt collection and litigation portfolios
Preparation and processing of payments under the legal section’s mandate
Maintain up-to-date legal registers for all contracts and other legal documents
Assist in drafting and reviewing contracts and other legal documents
Ensure all documents comply with company policies, relevant laws and regulations
Assist in the preparation of legal reports and presentations
Assist in the preparation of company documentation required by external counsel for court proceedings or other external legal support functions
Activities
Attend court proceedings and take notes as required
Ensure that the legal team are paid up members of the Uganda Law Society and coordinate their attendance of the requisite trainings
Ensure that the company secures its operational/business licenses from the relevant issuing authorities
Any other duties that may be required to be performed within the legal section
Qualifications, Education and Competencies
Minimum qualification: Bachelor of Laws, Post Graduate Diploma from the Law Development Centre
Minimum years post qualifying experience: 3 years’ experience
Type of experience: Litigation experience, legal research, stakeholder management, contracts management and legal transaction advisory
Other requirements: Excellent organizational/planning skills, critical thinking, hardworking, resilient, strong worth ethic, particularly integrity and ethics, good Interpersonal
