Job Description
The Senior Therapeutic Cook and Therapeutic Cook will plan, prepare, and serve meals aligned with individual dietary needs in a healthcare environment. The role requires close collaboration with dietitians to develop personalized meal plans for patients, preparation of food according to prescribed nutrition guidelines, maintaining hygiene and safety standards, and overseeing kitchen operations. Responsibilities also include training kitchen staff, conducting inventory checks, managing food waste, and ensuring that kitchen equipment is well-maintained. Candidates must demonstrate strong organizational, communication, and food handling skills.
Duties, Roles and Responsibilities
Prepare and cook meals according to dietary standards and established recipes
Work with dietitians to develop individualized meal plans for patients
Maintain compliance with food safety and hygiene regulations
Monitor food portions, control food waste, and ensure efficient use of ingredients
Train and supervise kitchen staff on safe food-handling practices
Keep kitchen equipment clean and functional, and maintain inventory records
Serve meals punctually and respond to special dietary requirements
Maintain a clean, organized, and safe kitchen environment
Qualifications, Education and Competencies
Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (e.g., Nutrition, Culinary Arts, or Food Science)
At least 5 years of experience in a hospital or healthcare kitchen environment
Knowledge of therapeutic diets and nutrition requirements
Basic computer skills
Excellent organizational and multitasking abilities
Strong communication and team management skills
Certification in food handling and hygiene is an added advantage
