Job Description
The Senior Accountant is responsible for preparing and processing payment vouchers, ensuring all payments comply with approved budgets, uploading payments to online banking and mobile money platforms, and attaching necessary documentation. The role includes verifying payment requisitions, safeguarding financial documents, maintaining accurate financial transaction records, preparing monthly bank and cash reconciliations, posting data accurately into the accounting system, and preparing management and donor financial reports. Additional duties may be assigned as needed.
Duties, Roles and Responsibilities
Prepare payment vouchers and ensure payments align with approved budgets
Upload payments to online banking and mobile money platforms
Attach and verify all supporting documents for payments
Ensure proper filing and safekeeping of financial documents
Maintain accurate and complete financial transaction records
Prepare monthly bank and cash reconciliations
Post financial data promptly and accurately in the accounting system
Prepare financial reports for management and donors as required
Perform additional finance-related duties as assigned
Qualifications, Education and Competencies
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, Commerce, or related field
CPA or ACCA Level 2 qualification is essential
Minimum 3 years relevant work experience in finance or accounting
Preferred: At least 7 years professional experience, especially in a busy environment or NGO
Proficiency in MS Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks)
Strong analytical and strategic thinking skills
In-depth knowledge of financial management principles, accounting standards, and regulations
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, able to explain financial data to non-finance staff
Ability to multitask, prioritize, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
Integrity, credibility, dedication to FAWE’s mission, and ability to build positive working relationships
