Job Description
The intern will assist in maintaining the safety and security protocols within the Nairobi office. Key responsibilities include supporting visitor security briefings, compiling routine security reports, managing the security communication tree, assisting with field visit planning, and providing backup during emergencies. The role will also involve helping staff report incidents, conducting workplace evaluations for compliance, and contributing to training sessions and documentation related to contingency and emergency plans. This is an excellent opportunity for a passionate individual interested in security management in an international humanitarian context.
Duties, Roles and Responsibilities
Coordinate with the Admin Team to schedule security briefings for visitors
Support the compilation of routine and daily security reports
Maintain updated security databases and communication trees
Assist in field visit planning and support
Support the reporting of incidents using Datix
Aid in organizing and delivering staff security training sessions
Participate in emergency and contingency planning documentation
Provide backup to the Operations Coordinator in emergency responses
Respond to security-related queries from staff
Evaluate workplace environments and equipment for compliance
Perform any other related tasks assigned by the supervisor
Qualifications, Education and Competencies
Bachelor’s Degree in Project Management, Criminology, Security Studies, or related fields
Strong interpersonal and communication skills, including negotiation and influence
Culturally aware with the ability to work in diverse environments
Commitment to delivering results and high work ethics
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook
Strong command of written and spoken English
Demonstrated alignment with Save the Children’s values of accountability, ambition, collaboration, creativity, and integrity
