Job Description
The Technical Implementation Lead will guide the strategy, planning, and execution of technology implementation projects across sub-Saharan Africa, ensuring that equipment is effectively installed, integrated, and maintained in alignment with MOH priorities and global standards. The role involves coordination of multidisciplinary teams, stakeholder engagement, training, and system integration, with an emphasis on sustainability and capacity building. The position requires significant experience with donor-funded health programs and technical expertise in health technologies.
Duties, Roles and Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership & Program Oversight
Lead strategic planning and technical implementation of health technologies
Supervise technical teams and align program activities with donor and MOH goals
Collaborate with leadership to develop national scale-up strategies
Technical Implementation & Systems Integration
Manage the full lifecycle of device implementation (assessment, installation, calibration, support)
Conduct facility readiness assessments
Support preventive maintenance systems and biomedical engineering capacity building
Troubleshoot technical issues remotely and onsite
Training & Capacity Building
Design and deliver training for biomedical engineers on CPAP and POCUS
Integrate training into national curricula and WHO-aligned standards
Develop user manuals, SOPs, and job aids
Build a sustainable network of technical trainers
Stakeholder Engagement & Partnership Development
Engage Ministries of Health and stakeholders for national-level alignment
Represent Hatch in global and national forums
Foster partnerships with professional bodies and local institutions
Monitoring, Evaluation & Learning (MEL)
Collaborate with MEL teams to monitor program outcomes and inform decision-making
Support documentation of learnings, case studies, and technical briefs
Drive adaptive learning and continuous improvement
Qualifications, Education and Competencies
Education
Bachelor’s degree in Biomedical Engineering, Global Health, Public Health, or a related technical field
Experience
At least 8 years’ experience in global health program implementation
Demonstrated leadership in multi-country technical programs in LMICs
Proven success in working with Ministries of Health and international donors
Competencies
Strong expertise in health technologies deployment and systems integration
Skilled in training delivery and capacity-building initiatives
Exceptional communication, stakeholder engagement, and cross-cultural collaboration abilities
Familiarity with Gates Foundation-funded programs is an advantage
