Job Description
The School Nurse will be responsible for managing student wellness and development, handling medical emergencies, administering daily care, managing the infirmary’s medical inventory, and providing health education. The role includes liaising with nearby hospitals, ensuring hygiene standards within boarding facilities, managing students with chronic or special health conditions, maintaining health records, and organizing professional development around health for students and staff. This role requires residence on campus and active involvement in student life.

Monitor students’ wellness and provide psychosocial and medical support
Administer basic health services during day and night
Liaise regularly with local medical professionals and hospitals
Maintain confidentiality of student medical records and information
Track student medical histories and ensure adherence to prescriptions
Develop a robust health reporting and procurement communication system
Support and advise the school on managing students with special medical conditions
Communicate effectively with students, staff, parents, and medical professionals
Conduct health-related training and awareness sessions for students and staff
Inspect and report on hygiene conditions in boarding facilities
Monitor cleanliness standards and report deficiencies
Manage chronic medical conditions and disabilities among students
Maintain infirmary supply inventory and initiate procurement when stocks are low
Document all incidents related to health and safety
Provide emergency evacuation and referral support for complex medical cases

Qualifications, Education and Competencies
Diploma or Degree in Nursing
3–4 years of experience as a registered nurse
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
Strong organizational and reporting skills
Flexibility, professionalism, and a nurturing approach to student care
Experience with professional counseling is an added advantage
Willingness to reside on campus under the school housing scheme
Ability to train students in basic health standards
