Job Description
Reporting to the Consulting Manager/Partner, the Risk Advisory Senior will plan, execute, and report on risk consulting engagements—including internal audits, ERM frameworks, ICFR testing, compliance checks, and investigative/forensic audits. The role evaluates control design and effectiveness, prepares high-quality reports and board/audit committee presentations, supervises field teams, reviews junior work, and ensures adherence to timelines, standards, and regulations. Responsibilities also include proposal writing, client pitches, relationship building, thought leadership support (newsletters/publications), and staying current on laws, regulations, and technical standards (e.g., GIAS, COSO ICIF & ERM, IFRS).
Duties, Roles and Responsibilities
Understand client business models, processes, internal controls, and operating environments.
Plan, execute, and report on internal audits, ERM, process reviews, compliance checks, and forensic/investigative work.
Assess control design/operating effectiveness; recommend risk mitigation and control enhancements.
Deliver clear reports and presentations to management, boards, and audit committees.
Supervise field teams; review workpapers; mentor juniors and provide performance feedback.
Manage engagement timelines; escalate risks/delays promptly to the Manager/Partner.
Support business development: proposals, pitches, and opportunity identification.
Build long-term client relationships; contribute to practice growth.
Track regulatory/standards changes; contribute to newsletters and publications.
Perform other tasks as delegated by the Consulting Manager/Partner.
Qualifications, Education and Competencies
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, Business Administration, or related field; Master’s is an advantage.
Professional certifications preferred: ACCA/CPA (Kenya); CIA, CISA, CRMA, CFE are added advantages; membership in ICPAK/IIA Kenya/IRM Kenya is a plus.
3–5 years progressive risk advisory experience (≥2 years at semi-senior level), preferably in Kenya/East Africa.
Strong project management, client-facing, and multicultural teamwork skills.
Solid understanding of Kenyan regulatory/business environment; governance, risk, and compliance.
Proficient in assessing/testing controls (ICFR), and familiar with GIAS, COSO ICIF & ERM, IFRS.
Excellent analytical, problem-solving, report-writing, and presentation skills.
Able to manage multiple engagements and tight deadlines; high integrity and ethical conduct; curious and growth-oriented mindset.
