Job Description
The Business Architect partners with business and technology SMEs to elicit and analyze requirements (interviews, workshops, use cases, workflow analysis); identify capability gaps; and develop business capability maps/blueprints that guide solution design. The role assesses business drivers, performs technical analysis within the EA framework, and ensures projects align with the enterprise roadmap. The Architect maintains Business Architecture artifacts in a shared repository, facilitates multi-stakeholder discussions, and links business needs to technology, solution, information, and process decisions.
Duties, Roles and Responsibilities
Elicit and document business requirements using interviews, workshops, surveys, use cases, scenarios, and workflow analysis.
Translate strategic initiatives into actionable change and technical deliverables.
Identify capability gaps; build business capability models and maps/blueprints/reference architectures.
Analyze business drivers to derive enterprise business, information, technical, and solution architecture needs.
Perform technical analysis to recommend solution paths within the existing EA framework.
Ensure projects align to EA roadmap/standards; participate in project governance.
Maintain Business Architecture artifacts in an accessible repository.
Facilitate stakeholder sessions and guide conversations toward business goals while honoring architectural standards.
Demonstrate how business capabilities link needs to tech/solution/information architecture decisions.
Qualifications, Education and Competencies
Education & Certifications
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science/Engineering, Information Technology, or related field (required).
Professional certifications (added advantage): CBAP, TOGAF, ITIL; Project Management: PRINCE2.
Experience
5+ years progressive IT experience (required).
Experience in at least two IT disciplines (e.g., business architecture, application architecture/development, business analysis) (essential).
Operating systems (Windows/Unix) — 3 yrs (desirable).
Database management systems — 3 yrs (desirable).
Prior BA/Application/Solution Architecture experience — 3 yrs (desirable).
Exposure to diverse technologies/environments — 3 yrs (desirable).
Software delivery methodologies (waterfall, agile, hybrid) — 3 yrs (desirable).
Strong interpersonal/teamwork, facilitation, negotiation — 3 yrs (desirable).
Planning & organization; breaking complex work into actionable tasks — 3 yrs (desirable).
UML/modeling tools & repositories — 3 yrs (desirable).
Balance long-term vision with short-term deliverables; influence across levels — 3 yrs (desirable).
Advanced soft skills: listening, empathy, audience-aware communication — 3 yrs (desirable).
Core Competencies
