Job Description
Job Title: Regional Control Specialist – Branch Operations
Organisation: Centenary Bank
Duty Station: Kampala, Uganda
Reports to: Regional Manager
Support the business in the region by driving the execution of credit, operational processes, policies and procedures in line with the bank’s strategy while maintaining sound people and business growth aspects of the region that drive efficiency
Duties, Roles and Responsibilities
Monitor and provide support to branches within the region in implementation of bank risk management programs
Monitor compliance by branches to the bank’s approved work plans in line with operational bank policies and procedures.
Monitor, implement and report on the overall internal controls and procedures in the branches.
Manage, evaluate and provide corrective action or support to the branches, ensure that all branches have clean audits, are compliant with policy, procedure and BOU guidelines; have low non-performing rates and that there is quality growth of the branch portfolio.
Follow up the closure of audit issues raised by both internal auditors and BOU supervisors and report to regional manager in line with bank policy.
Monitor assigned Branch suspense accounts and follow up reconciliation in line with operational policies and procedures.
Monitor operations activities in branches to identify risks and ensure compliance / adherence to the existing internal control processes, procedures and service standards as per bank policy and risk management guidelines
Identify and resolve operational issues in the Branch for effective operational performance in line with the budget and business plan
Monitor productivity of staff in assigned branches and recommend actions in line with the set productivity ratios and bank policies.
Monitor the implementation of business growth strategies (lending and deposits) and customer service strategies in the assigned Branches and make recommendations in line with the regional work plan.
Conduct branch assessments by reviewing customer files, and branch reports to ensure compliance with bank credit / operations policy and procedures and rectify anomalies while escalating those beyond their control.
Monitor the implementation of customer service strategies in assigned branches and make reports in line with the bank’s customer service standards and strategy.
Coordinate the budget process and ensure alignment to the business strategy.
Monitor branch budget and work plan performance to ensure attainment of the targets set.
Support to review and monitor productivity of staff within the set productivity ratios and bank policies whilst assessing the manpower and skills requirements for the specific branch to address performance and human resources gaps.
Qualifications, Education and Competencies
Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration or related field.
4 years’ banking experience at Manager Branch Operations level.
