The PO WaA! - with support from the Hub Manager - is responsible for the day-to-day planning and implementation of project activities under the We are Able programme in Uganda.
We are Able! works in six African States (Burundi, DR Congo, South Sudan, Sudan, Uganda and Ethiopia) as well as in the Netherlands and it has it's main objective as ‘Co-creating inclusive governance for access to basic resources that leaves no-one behind’.
We are able! wants to see People with Disabilities (PWDs) improving their right to food and food security by creating an enabling environment for right-to-food action at grassroots level.
In Uganda the Consortium consists of (I)NGOs, namely ZOA as lead, NUDIPU and Light for the World (LftW). In addition, The Hague Academy (THA) and Vereniging Nederlandse Gemeenten Internationaal (VNGi) have been subcontracted under this grant.
We Are Able! is being financed by the Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs under the Power of Voices subsidiary framework and runs from January 1st, 2021, until December 31st, 2025.
Implements project activities in line with the workplan to achieve optimal project outputs and outcomes in line with ZOA/donor procedures and targets;
Accounts timely for executed project activities in line with and according to relevant ZOA policies and guidelines;
Ensures project outputs are consistent with project documents, log frames and in line with quality standards and country policies;
Oversees and ensures implementation is in line with standards and policies of both ZOA and government of Uganda;
Participate in meetings between people with disabilities, OPD leaders and local CSOs and development partners for the benefit of target group in the sub counties of operation;
Work with other consortium members at District level with the aim of ensuring disability inclusion in local governance, planning and budgeting process;
Link farmer groups to Local government staff and opportunities that can help improve their inclusive food and nutrition security
Always Support Persons with Disability lobby and advocacy for inclusive food security
Support maintain a database on media( Photos) that support that can support showcase WaA! Work and or advocacy.
Reporting
Provide inputs to implementation plans and activity/monthly reports;
Identify (Harvest) and document outcomes, lessons learned and best practices within project using available tools;
Prepare and submit well written success stories monthly;
Share learning with other consortium members
Contribute to project reports or implementation plans as required by supervisor;
Collect monitoring data according to ZOA’s systems and activities in the project;
Actively participate in (technical) working groups and coordination meetings.
Accountability to participants
Support the MEAL team Sensitise stakeholders (beneficiaries, service providers, partners, government and other) in feedback and complaint mechanisms implemented by ZOA Uganda
Upon receipt of a complaint or feedback, ensure that it is correctly documented following correct reporting procedures
Understand ZOA’s code of conduct and safeguarding policies, ensure adherence to these policies and that project activities are implemented with a “Do No Harm” approach

Degree in Community Based Rehabilitation (BCBR), Journalism, Mass Communication Development Studies, Social Sciences, SWSA, Adult Education and any related fields;
Postgraduate Diploma in M and E or Mass communication will be an added advantage
Experience in Lobby and advocacy will also be an added advantage
At least 2 – 3 years of successful experience in a similar position implementing inclusive food security and Lobby and advocacy for Persons with disabilities
A Valid riding Permit Class A is added advantage;
Experience in working with people with disabilities;
Experience in Capturing and documentation of Project success, significant change stories and learning
Excellent facilitation, presentation, communication skills and writing ability;
Experience with implementing projects funded by institutional donors is an added advantage;
Proven experience working in the above context is a MUST;
Having worked in a project in collaboration with a partner is an added advantage;
Excellent spoken and written command of English;
Knowledge of the local language is an asset.
Skills:
Excellent facilitation, communication skills and writing ability;
Innovative, creative and enthusiastic;
Provides regular feedback, acknowledges success and the need for improvement with Supervisees;
Result oriented and possession of learning power.
Good computer skills: Ms Excel and Ms Word;
Self-motivator, able to take initiatives with limited supervision;
Ability to drive a motorcycle with valid driving/riding license is a MUST.
