Job Description
The role entails responsibility for reviewing and ensuring the accurate and timely preparation of financial reports and budgets. The officer will support departments during the budgeting process, analyze financial data for variance reporting, and offer technical guidance to ensure optimal budget utilization. Additionally, the position will involve payroll verification, purchase approvals, and participation in resource mobilization activities.
Duties, Roles and Responsibilities
Review and ensure timely preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual management accounting reports
Ensure timely preparation of annual and revised budgets based on approved work plans
Provide technical support to departments during budget formulation
Review departmental expenditure returns and conduct variance analysis with recommendations
Interpret financial policies to enhance internal controls and sound financial management
Assist departmental heads in budget implementation by providing accurate financial data
Conduct financial planning and consolidate departmental work plans
Participate in the Authority’s resource mobilization initiatives
Verify payrolls, payment cheques, EFTs, and bank transfers
Approve purchase orders, sales/purchase invoices, and staff imprests
Review ledger and store item coding for accuracy
Evaluate purchase requisitions for budget alignment and cost estimation
Qualifications, Education and Competencies
Bachelor’s Degree in Commerce (Finance), Economics, Business Administration, Business Management, or related field
Master’s Degree is an added advantage
CPA (K) or ACCA certification
Member in good standing with ICPAK or an equivalent recognized professional body
At least three (3) years of relevant work experience
Proficient in computer applications
Demonstrated results in previous financial management roles
