Job Description
The Phone Repair Technician will be responsible for performing functional tests, identifying technical faults, and carrying out component-level repairs on smartphones. Duties include disassembly, testing, reclaiming reusable components, reassembly, and conducting full functional and RF tests. The technician will also handle preventive maintenance, troubleshoot operating system errors, and support continuous improvement of repair processes. The role requires precision, time management, teamwork, and a commitment to high service standards that align with Sun King’s mission to improve access to affordable technology for underserved communities.
Duties, Roles and Responsibilities
Conduct functional tests to triage and diagnose device issues.
Disassemble phones, test and replace defective components.
Reclaim specific components and external housings for reuse.
Reassemble devices following work instructions.
Perform full functional, cosmetic, and RF testing.
Carry out preventive maintenance on smartphones.
Identify areas for improving internal repair processes and SOPs.
Ensure repair turnaround times meet service expectations.
Qualifications, Education and Competencies
Minimum Qualifications & Experience
Diploma in Electronics Engineering.
At least 2 years’ direct experience in mobile phone or electronic device repair.
Skills & Competencies
Proficiency in hardware and software troubleshooting, including flashing and RF testing.
Skilled in the use of precision repair tools and technology.
Good team player with excellent time management.
High integrity, professionalism, and strong work ethic.
Ability to follow detailed technical instructions and maintain quality standards.
