Job Description
Reporting to the Cluster Lead, the Business Coach will support participant onboarding, business development, and market engagement within the CASHA Project. The role includes organizing participants into business groups and VSLAs, guiding them in developing viable business plans, providing training through BOMA’s REAP model, and ensuring effective use of Challenge Fund grants. The Business Coach will collaborate with county governments, private sector actors, and research institutions to unlock financial and market opportunities. S/he will also support program monitoring by collecting data, tracking performance indicators, documenting reports, and sharing insights for decision-making. Frequent fieldwork and direct engagement with youth and women in ASAL counties is central to this role.
Duties, Roles and Responsibilities
Participate in the identification and onboarding of program participants.
Deliver training and mentorship through REAP, integrating gender-responsive strategies.
Organize participants into business groups, cooperatives, VSLAs, and value chain aggregation groups.
Support participants to establish and manage profitable businesses in livestock and agri-value chains.
Facilitate partnerships with county governments, TVETs, private sector, and research institutions.
Conduct monthly mentorship, financial literacy, savings, and life skills sessions.
Guide participants in developing business plans and applying for Challenge Fund grants.
Track utilization of grants and provide ongoing business support.
Collect and manage program data, ensuring quality and integrity.
Document success stories, lessons learned, and monthly progress reports.
Maintain program tools, including tablets and motorcycles, in good condition.
Participate in review and planning meetings with supervisors and consortium partners.
Qualifications, Education and Competencies
Education & Professional Requirements
Degree in Business, Commerce, Economics, Entrepreneurship, Agriculture, or Livestock.
Experience
3–5 years’ experience working with youth, SMEs, or in livestock/agri-value chains.
Proven experience in business development services and social inclusion in ASAL regions.
Skills & Competencies
Strong mentorship and coaching skills.
Knowledge of market trends and strategies for micro-enterprise startups.
Experience in data collection, entry, and analysis.
Valid motorcycle license (A1/A2) with riding experience.
Excellent interpersonal, communication, and problem-solving skills.
Basic knowledge of mobile data collection tools, Microsoft Office; Salesforce is an added advantage.
Must be a resident of the county of application.
