Networks & Infrastructure Specialist job at KCB Bank

KCB Bank

Design, evaluation and implementation of procedures and technical measures to enhance the security of Data Centre server and storage Infrastructure, Virtualized Server pool and Cloud Infrastructure.

  • Implementation and support of High end and Mid- Range IT and End-User Infrastructure in line with Bank’s Vision and provisioning High Available Server and Network infrastructure.

  • Ensuring infrastructure high availability, business continuity and effective management of 24x7 Data Centre operations and high-end server and network infrastructure SLAs.

  • Design and implementation of hardware solutions to support the Banks requirements and supervise the technical execution of the same.

  • Formulation and analyzing business needs and recommend appropriate ICT End-user, Network, Server and Storage infrastructure solutions to meet the Bank’s requirements.

  • Conducting performance and capacity planning and develop budgets for network and server infrastructure requirements and future projections for business.

  • Manages Remote Backups and replication of data between various end point and perform regular and on-demand system backups and recoveries.

  • Check all the sites antivirus site health and take action where necessary.

  • Design, evaluation and implementation of procedures and technical measures to enhance the security of Data Centre server and storage Infrastructure, Virtualized Server pool and Cloud Infrastructure.

  • Keeping up to date server and network infrastructure documentation, inventory, policies and procedural documents, disaster recovery plan and best practices that relate to hardware infrastructure.

  • Implements service delivery standards, policies and procedures to support the bank business plan, business operations and support functions

  • Degree: A bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology, network engineering, or a related field is typically required. In some cases, relevant experience and certifications may substitute for formal education.

  • Advanced Education (Optional): A master’s degree in a related field can be advantageous.


Professional Experience

  • Relevant Experience: Several years of experience in network administration, IT infrastructure, or a related field. Experience with network design, implementation, and management is often essential.

  • Industry Experience: Experience in specific industries (e.g., finance, healthcare, telecommunications) may be preferred depending on the employer.


Technical Skills and Knowledge

  • Networking Protocols: In-depth knowledge of networking protocols (e.g., TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, HTTP/S, VPN, etc.).

  • Network Hardware: Proficiency with network hardware, including routers, switches, firewalls, and access points.

  • Network Design and Architecture: Experience with network design, including LAN, WAN, MAN, and SD-WAN.

  • Security: Understanding of network security principles and practices, including firewalls, intrusion detection/prevention systems (IDS/IPS), VPNs, and encryption.

  • Virtualization and Cloud Technologies: Experience with virtualization technologies (e.g., VMware, Hyper-V) and cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, Google Cloud).

  • Operating Systems: Proficiency with various operating systems, particularly Windows Server and Linux.

  • Monitoring and Management Tools: Familiarity with network monitoring and management tools (e.g., SolarWinds, Nagios, Wireshark).


Certifications (Preferred)

  • Cisco Certifications: Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA), Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP), or higher-level certifications like Cisco Certified Internetwork Expert (CCIE).

  • Microsoft Certifications: Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator Associate or similar.

  • CompTIA Certifications: CompTIA Network+, CompTIA Security+, or CompTIA Linux+.

  • Other Certifications: Certifications such as Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP), Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA), or ITIL.


Soft Skills

  • Problem-Solving: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to diagnose and resolve network issues.

  • Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills for interacting with team members, stakeholders, and end-users.

  • Teamwork: Ability to work effectively in a team and collaborate with other IT professionals.

  • Customer Service: Strong customer service orientation to support and assist end-users.
