Job Summary: eTranzact Platform Ltd, a leading African financial technology company, is seeking a talented Business Development Officer to join our high-impact team and contribute to our mission of transforming the financial landscape. The business Development Officer will report directly to the Head of Sales and Partnerships and serve as the face of business development and operations in Uganda. This role requires an individual with a forward-thinking fintech that values innovation, integrity, and measurable results.
Job Description:
We’re hiring a Business Development Officer – Digital and Micro Loans will identify
and secure new business opportunities, build strategic relationships with corporate
clients and lenders, and drive the adoption of Etranzact’s payroll-linked loans, FWP, and digital/micro-lending products. Your responsibilities will include driving product enhancements to align with lender needs, foster industry partnerships, and contribute to overall business profitability while ensuring full compliance with regulatory standards. We’re looking for a strategic thinker with a strong background in fintech and financial services to ensure optimal financial health, compliance with regulatory requirements, and support for business growth initiatives. The ideal candidate will play a critical part in expanding our corporate client base, increasing revenue, and strengthening our market presence in Uganda and beyond.
Duties, Roles and Responsibilities
Conduct comprehensive market research to uncover trends, emerging opportunities, and the competitive landscape in the corporate and employee finance sectors.
Analyze market trends and data to inform and refine business development strategies.
Identify and engage with Primary Mortgage Lenders (PMLs) to promote payday and digital financing services, highlighting value propositions.
Build and sustain strong relationships with enterprise, corporate, and SME lenders to deeply understand their requirements and encourage product uptake.
Collaborate with internal teams, including product development and sales, to customize refinance and lending products that address specific client needs.
Develop and execute targeted sales strategies for micro-lending and FWP initiatives to drive business growth, meet revenue targets, and enhance profitability.
Prepare detailed reports on business development activities, market insights, and key performance metrics.
Establish and maintain productive relationships with clients, partners, and industry stakeholders.
Create and deliver compelling business proposals and presentations to prospective clients.
Negotiate and finalize business deals that ensure long-term revenue streams and mutual benefits.
Provide timely updates to senior management on progress, challenges, and achievements in business development.
Ensure adherence to Bank of Uganda KYC policies, regulatory frameworks, and best practices in portfolio monitoring.
Lead efficient onboarding processes for corporate clients and individual borrowers.
Support partnership and sales managers with ad hoc projects and initiatives as needed.
Qualifications, Education and Competencies
Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Marketing, or a related field.
Membership in a relevant professional body or equivalent certification.
Minimum of five (5) years of experience in business development, sales, or a
related role within the financial services industry.
Proven track record in business development, sales, or relationship management in the mortgage or financial services sector.
Strong knowledge of micro-lending and digital lending processes and products.
Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and CRM software.
Demonstrated high integrity and ethical standards.
Ability to work collaboratively as a team player while maintaining cordial relationships.
Commitment to operational effectiveness and problem-solving using relevant business knowledge.
Preferred Skills:
Experience in fintech or digital financial services, particularly in Uganda or East Africa.
Familiarity with regulatory environments, including Bank of Uganda policies and KYC/AML frameworks.
Advanced analytical skills for market trend analysis and strategy formulation.
Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities and work extended hours when necessary to achieve goals.
Prior experience in product development or customization for lending solutions
