Job Description
The Network Administrator will oversee the deployment, configuration, and maintenance of LAN, WAN, and wireless networks. They will manage network availability, optimize Layer 2 and Layer 3 protocols, implement firewall and security measures, and act as escalation support for network incidents. The role also involves documentation, mentoring junior staff, and ensuring compliance with organizational and regulatory standards. Additionally, the administrator will collaborate with service providers, support IT projects, and align network operations with the organization’s strategic IT goals.
Duties, Roles and Responsibilities
Deploy, configure, and maintain LAN, WAN, and wireless networks.
Ensure 99.99% network uptime through proactive monitoring and preventive maintenance.
Troubleshoot and resolve complex network issues involving routing, switching, firewalls, and wireless technologies.
Manage performance of core Layer 2 and Layer 3 protocols (e.g., VLANs, STP, BGP, OSPF).
Administer firewalls, VPNs, NAT rules, and access control policies.
Ensure secure storage and regular backup of device configurations.
Maintain updated network documentation, diagrams, and change logs.
Provide Level 1 and Level 2 escalation support for network-related incidents.
Collaborate with stakeholders and service providers to meet SLAs.
Support IT projects requiring network planning and infrastructure involvement.
Recover from hardware/software failures in a structured and timely manner.
Implement network security systems and monitor logs for unauthorized activity.
Maintain compliance with organizational and regulatory IT standards.
Keep updated inventory of hardware, licenses, and spares, ensuring timely renewals.
Enforce standardized configuration templates across devices.
Mentor junior IT staff and provide technical guidance.
Document procedures, incident reports, and operational changes.

Qualifications, Education and Competencies
Education and Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, IT, Telecommunications, or related field.
3–5 years of progressive experience in IP network administration.
Strong understanding of networking concepts and protocols (TCP/IP, ARP, DHCP, DNS, VLANs, STP, Port Channels).
Solid expertise in routing protocols such as BGP and OSPF.
Experience with enterprise firewall systems, VPNs, and security technologies.
Proficiency in Linux administration and CLI-based configuration.
Hands-on experience with network monitoring tools (Zabbix, SolarWinds, PRTG).
Familiarity with wireless infrastructure, SSID management, and RF planning.
Experience in Telco, ISP, or other high-availability environments.
Knowledge of NAC technologies (Cisco ISE, FortiNAC, Aruba ClearPass).
Understanding of cloud networking and SD-WAN.
Experience with VoIP system support.
Preferred Certifications
Cisco CCNA / CCNP.
Juniper JNCIA-Junos / JNCIS-ENT.
CompTIA Network+.
Fortinet NSE 4.
