Job Description
The HR & Legal Director will lead the organization’s talent management strategy, ensuring the recruitment, retention, and development of diverse and skilled professionals. The role combines HR leadership with legal advisory responsibilities, ensuring compliance with Tanzanian labor laws and company regulations. Key responsibilities include policy development, performance management, change management, and culture transformation. As company secretary, the Director will be responsible for managing company records, supporting board functions, drafting legal documentation, and ensuring effective corporate governance.
Duties, Roles and Responsibilities
Oversee recruitment, talent acquisition, and retention strategies.
Develop and implement HR policies aligned with best practices and company objectives.
Provide legal advice on HR-related and corporate matters.
Ensure compliance with Tanzanian labor laws and company regulations.
Support organizational change management and culture transformation initiatives.
Lead performance management and staff development programs.
Serve as company secretary, managing legal records, drafting legal documents, and supporting the board of directors.
Oversee employee relations, conflict resolution, and workplace compliance.
Ensure alignment of HR and legal functions with strategic business goals.
Qualifications, Education and Competencies
Education & Professional Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Law, Human Resources, Business Administration & Law, or related field.
Master’s degree preferred.
Professional certification such as SHRM-SCP or SPHR is highly desirable.
Experience
Minimum of 10 years of HR and Legal leadership experience, preferably in manufacturing or industrial sectors.
Proven experience in talent acquisition, performance management, and HR policy development.
Strong background in legal compliance and corporate governance.
Skills & Competencies
Strong knowledge of Tanzanian labor laws and HR best practices.
Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
Experience in organizational change management and culture transformation.
Ability to balance legal advisory responsibilities with HR strategy execution.
High integrity and professionalism.
