Job Description
The officer supports TASAC in implementing maritime safety and regulatory frameworks. This includes assisting in the inspection, registration, and licensing of ships; evaluating ship design plans for new builds or major alterations; conducting surveys and stability tests; coordinating marine accident investigations; and ensuring ships operating in Tanzanian waters comply with safety standards. The officer also contributes to environmental protection initiatives and prepares periodic implementation reports.

How to Apply
Assist in inspection, registration, and licensing of ships.
Evaluate and recommend approval of ship design plans for new constructions or major alterations.
Conduct surveys for new ships or those undergoing major alterations or repairs.
Review and recommend stability information booklets for ships.
Carry out tonnage measurements and marking of ships, providing recommendations to the Registrar.
Assist with stability and inclination proof tests for ships.
Coordinate and assist in investigations of marine accidents or incidents.
Support enforcement actions against unsafe ships operating in Tanzanian waters.
Prepare periodic reports on maritime safety, security, and environmental protection activities.
Perform other official duties as assigned by the supervisor.
Bachelor’s degree in Naval Architecture, Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering, Naval Architecture and Offshore Engineering, or equivalent from a recognized institution.
Knowledge of ship design, stability, and maritime safety regulations.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Excellent report-writing and communication abilities.
Fresh graduates are encouraged to apply; no prior experience required.
