About the Organisation
Equity Bank Uganda Limited, is a commercial bank in Uganda. It is licensed by the Bank of Uganda, the central bank and national banking regulator.
Equity Bank is one of the fastest growing banks in Uganda, with a large network of 50 branches, 7,000+ EquiDuukas, 1,279 POS Terminal and 50+ ATMs spread across the country. 25 of these branches are located in Central and greater Kampala, serving over 1,800,000 customers. Role Overview
Equity Bank Uganda is seeking a dynamic and experienced Manager ICT Risk to lead the identification, assessment, and mitigation of risks across all IT operations. This role provides independent assurance that ICT controls are effective, regulatory requirements are met, and the Bank’s digital infrastructure is protected. The ideal candidate will work closely with business units and control functions to embed a culture of proactive risk management.
Duties, Roles and Responsibilities
ICT Risk Management
- Enforce the Bank’s IT Risk Policy by ensuring adherence to established standards and controls. 
- Execute the Bank’s Information Risk Management Program in a timely and effective manner. 
- Maintain and update the IT Risk Register, tracking mitigation efforts and closure of identified risk gaps. 
- Review threat and vulnerability assessments for key systems and assets in accordance with ICT policies. 
- Lead reviews of new applications, products, and systems to assess risks and ensure appropriate control frameworks are in place. 
- Analyze and report on emerging ICT risks, regulatory changes, and technology trends. 
- Collaborate with business units and control teams to conduct self-assessments, gap analyses, and risk acceptance reviews. 
- Deliver monthly and ad-hoc reports on IT risk status, gaps, and mitigation plans to the Head of Risk. 
Policy & Compliance
- Participate in the development and periodic review of ICT policies and procedures to ensure alignment with industry best practices and compliance with regulatory standards. 
- Monitor IT compliance with internal controls, policies, and statutory requirements. 
Information Security Awareness
- Oversee and promote IT security awareness programs and training sessions for staff and customers. 
- Coordinate sensitization campaigns to strengthen the organization’s information security culture. 
Business Continuity & Disaster Recovery
- Lead the design, testing, and maintenance of the Bank’s Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery (BC/DR) plans. 
- Conduct business impact analyses to identify critical resources and recommend protective measures. 
Additional Duties
- Stay updated on developments in cybersecurity, IT governance, and risk management. 
- Perform any other ICT risk-related tasks assigned by the Head of Risk. 
Qualifications, Education and Competencies
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Mathematics, or a related field. 
- Professional certification in CISA, CISM, or CISSP is mandatory. 
- 2–3 years of relevant experience in ICT risk or information security, preferably in the banking or financial services sector. 
- Solid understanding of IT governance frameworks, risk control mechanisms, and regulatory environments. 
- Proven knowledge of banking operations and financial systems is a strong advantage.

- Strong analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills. 
- High integrity with the ability to handle sensitive and confidential information. 
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and reporting skills. 
- Self-driven, innovative, and adaptable in a fast-paced and evolving environment. 
- Effective organizational and time management skills; able to prioritize and manage multiple deadlines. 
- Ability to provide clear, concise risk assessments and recommendations to senior management.
