Job Summary:
Responsible for providing strategic financial insight and performance support to the Commercial function (Sales, Distribution, Marketing, Products). The role acts as a trusted advisor to commercial leaders, enabling data-driven decision-making, driving revenue growth, and improving profitability across mobile money products and channels.
The position will interface with Oracle workflows and Key Performance Indicators (KPI) that will be aligned with the KPIs of the business and Finance to ensure effective and efficient operations.
Duties, Roles and Responsibilities
Strategic Business Partnering
Serve as the key finance liaison to the Commercial teams.
Translate commercial strategies into measurable financial outcomes and KPIs.
Support go-to-market decisions with robust financial analysis and scenario modelling.
Provide insight on channel productivity, pricing, campaigns, and incentive schemes.
Ensure accurate and timely reporting to enable the regular review of the functional strategy, roadmap and performance to ensure its alignment with the changing dynamics of the internal and external ecosystem.
Financial Planning & Analysis
Lead the commercial input into the annual budget, forecasts, and strategic planning cycles.
Monitor and analyse revenue trends, commercial expenses, customer metrics, and margin drivers.
Generate insights and performance commentary for monthly and quarterly business reviews.
Prepare and analyse operational reports to management on a monthly, quarterly, annually relating to progress made within the operation and in accordance with the measurement metrics set by the organisation.
Decision Support & Investment Appraisal
Evaluate business cases for marketing campaigns, promotions, pricing changes, and new products. Review financial viability of proposals and assess business impacts for special commercial projects
Conduct ROI assessments and post-implementation reviews.
Guide prioritisation of commercial initiatives based on impact and feasibility.
Revenue and Cost Optimisation
Identify opportunities for revenue enhancement and cost efficiency.
Partner with the commercial teams to align investments with performance outcomes.
Governance and Controls
Ensure commercial initiatives are compliant with financial policies and ROI thresholds.
Champion data integrity and reporting consistency across Commercial finance metrics.
Manage and resolve escalations that have impact on critical path of service delivery.
Escalate issues that will result in significant time, scope, employee/client or cost impact if not resolved.
Manage and provide solutions to issues that require formal resolution.
Qualifications, Education and Competencies
Bachelor’s degree in finance, Accounting, Economics or related field.
Professional qualification (e.g. ACCA, CPA, CFA) is an added advantage.
MBA or Master’s degree in a related discipline is desirable.
Experience:
Minimum 5–7 years’ experience in FP&A, commercial finance, or business partnering roles.
Prior exposure to telecom, fintech, mobile money, or fast-moving digital businesses is highly desirable.
Experience working cross-functionally with commercial, product and marketing teams.
Experience in similar leadership role with a global/ multi-site organization, ERP (Oracle), MS Office (Word, Excel, power point and Outlook), GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles), IFRS (International Financial Reporting Standards).
Experience in continuous improvement through the implementation of best practices (Finance).
Experience in Finance leading practices and trends.
Competencies

Proficiency in Excel, PowerPoint, and financial reporting systems (Oracle preferred).
