About the Role
Sokoni Africa Limited is looking for a detail-oriented and experienced Hotel Cost Controller to join our finance team. This role is critical in ensuring effective cost management across all hotel departments, with the goal of enhancing financial performance, maintaining budget compliance, and identifying opportunities for cost savings.
Duties, Roles and Responsibilities
Monitor and manage operational costs across all hotel departments to ensure optimal revenue and expenditure balance
Develop and enforce cost control procedures aligned with hotel industry standards
Analyze financial data, identify cost trends, and provide variance reports and forecasts
Collaborate with department heads to establish and track budgets
Conduct regular audits of inventories and expenditures to ensure accountability and prevent overspending
Monitor food & beverage, labor, and general operating expenses for efficiency and accuracy
Implement effective inventory control measures to reduce waste and loss
Prepare and present detailed cost reports with actionable recommendations to management
Qualifications, Education and Competencies
Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or Hospitality Management
Proven experience as a Cost Controller within the hotel or hospitality industry
In-depth understanding of hotel operations and cost control mechanisms
Strong analytical skills and the ability to interpret financial data effectively
Proficient in financial management systems and Microsoft Office Suite
Highly organized with keen attention to detail
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment
