Job Overview
Marriott International is currently seeking a diligent and detail-oriented General Cashier and Paymaster to join our team in Kampala. This role is responsible for managing daily cash operations and payroll functions while ensuring the accuracy, security, and integrity of all financial data. The ideal candidate will demonstrate a strong commitment to financial controls, confidentiality, and operational excellence.
Duties, Roles and Responsibilities
Cashiering & Financial Controls
Verify figures, postings, and documents for accuracy, proper coding, and compliance with financial procedures.
Organize and secure all financial files, cash, and equivalents in line with Marriott’s internal control policies.
Maintain, distribute, and reconcile petty cash, cashier banks, and contracts.
Record, store, and analyze computerized financial data using accounting software and tools.
Payroll & Reporting
Process payroll accurately and on time, maintaining confidentiality and compliance with company standards.
Prepare and complete period-end financial closing tasks and related reports.
Document and follow up on all cash variances in accordance with Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
Audits & Compliance
Conduct periodic audits of cashier banks to ensure compliance with company policies.
Serve as a liaison between the property and the armored car service or primary banking institution.
Support internal, external, and regulatory audits to ensure adherence to financial and operational procedures.
Team & Communication
Communicate effectively with team members and other departments using professional language and conduct.
Ensure fellow team members understand financial procedures and responsibilities.
Maintain a professional appearance and behavior at all times, protecting both company and guest privacy.
Additional Duties
Support the finance team in achieving departmental goals.
Perform other related duties as assigned by supervisors.
Physically capable of handling objects weighing up to 10 pounds as part of daily operations.
Qualifications, Education and Competencies
Education: High school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent.
Experience: Minimum of 1 year in a related accounting or finance role.
Supervisory Experience: Not required.
Certifications: None required.

Strong attention to detail and numerical accuracy.
Proficiency in financial software and Microsoft Office applications.
High level of integrity and confidentiality.
Strong organizational and time management skills.
Clear, professional communication and teamwork abilities.
