Job Description
As Branch Manager, you will be responsible for implementing strategies that drive the branch’s performance and growth. The role includes managing financial performance, identifying new business opportunities, leading and mentoring staff, overseeing risk management, and ensuring compliance with all banking policies and regulations. The position requires building strong community and customer relationships, introducing new banking products and services, and ensuring branch profitability while delivering high-quality customer experiences.
Duties, Roles and Responsibilities
Develop and implement strategies to achieve branch performance and growth objectives.
Lead, mentor, and motivate a team of banking professionals to provide exceptional customer service.
Manage branch financial performance, including budgeting, forecasting, and expense control.
Identify, pursue, and secure new business opportunities within the local market.
Ensure compliance with banking regulations, company policies, and procedures.
Oversee risk management and maintain the security of branch operations.
Build and maintain strong relationships with customers, partners, and community stakeholders.
Collaborate with other departments to roll out new products, services, and initiatives.
Analyze performance data and prepare reports for senior management.
Resolve escalated or complex customer issues effectively.
Qualifications, Education and Competencies
Education
Bachelor’s degree in Business Commerce, Business Administration, Finance, or related field.
Banking certifications are an added advantage.
Experience
Minimum of 5 years’ experience in banking or financial services.
At least 3 years in a managerial role.
Prior experience in business banking or business development preferred.
Skills & Competencies
Strong financial acumen with proven ability to manage profitability.
Track record of leading and developing high-performing teams.
Excellent communication, interpersonal, and relationship management skills.
Ability to make sound decisions and solve complex problems.
In-depth knowledge of banking regulations, compliance, and risk management.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office and banking software systems.
Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to change.
Fluency in English and Swahili (preferred).
