Job Description
The Specialist will develop and enforce IT security policies and procedures across RDB’s systems, ensuring alignment with national and international standards. Responsibilities include managing real-time monitoring tools, conducting security audits, penetration tests, and vulnerability assessments. The role will also involve incident investigation, remediation, and continuous improvement of security practices. The IT Security Specialist will provide staff training, manage user access controls, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to mitigate risks, strengthen IT resilience, and ensure compliance with applicable regulations.
Duties, Roles and Responsibilities
Develop, implement, and enforce IT security policies, procedures, and standards.
Identify, assess, and remediate security vulnerabilities in applications and systems.
Lead responses to security incidents, including investigations and corrective actions.
Implement and manage security monitoring tools to detect and respond to threats in real time.
Conduct IT security audits, penetration testing, and vulnerability assessments.
Ensure compliance with relevant IT security regulations, frameworks, and standards.
Manage user access rights, permissions, and role-based access controls.
Promote security awareness by conducting staff training and awareness programs.
Collaborate with IT teams to strengthen system security and reduce risks.
Prepare security reports and recommend improvements to senior management.
Qualifications, Education and Competencies
Bachelor’s Degree in Information Management, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, ICT, or Electronics and Telecommunication Engineering with at least 3 years of relevant experience; OR
Master’s Degree in the above fields with at least 1 year of relevant experience.
Certifications such as CCNA, MCSE, MCSD, MCITP, LAMP/WAMP Framework, or MCTS(.NET) are an added advantage.
Proficiency in programming languages: Java, JavaScript, PHP, SQL, Python, or R.
Strong skills in ITIL, PMP, CISSP, CISA, or other security frameworks.
Demonstrated expertise in IT systems security, networking, penetration testing, and vulnerability assessments.
Strong skills in IT security audits and remediation strategies.
Excellent command of English; proficiency in French and Kinyarwanda is an advantage.
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
High integrity, professionalism, and ability to work under pressure.
Team player with excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
