Job Description
The Specialist will be responsible for building efficient and scalable software applications tailored to RDB’s needs. This includes writing clean, maintainable code, testing and debugging applications, integrating new software with existing systems, and providing ongoing technical support. The role also requires creating technical documentation, collaborating with cross-functional teams, and recommending innovative technology solutions to improve RDB’s IT systems. Additionally, the Specialist will contribute to system optimization, ensure data integrity, and support the continuous improvement of RDB’s IT capabilities.
Duties, Roles and Responsibilities
Design, develop, and maintain software applications and systems.
Write clean, efficient, and maintainable code using appropriate languages and frameworks.
Test and debug applications to ensure specifications and user-friendliness.
Integrate new software with existing systems and databases.
Provide technical support and resolve software-related issues.
Identify and implement enhancements, updates, and optimizations for software performance.
Prepare technical documentation, including system architecture, manuals, and code comments.
Collaborate with IT Business Analysts and stakeholders to align solutions with business needs.
Research and recommend modern technology tools and solutions to strengthen IT capacity.
Qualifications, Education and Competencies
Bachelor’s Degree in Software Engineering or Computer Science with at least 3 years of relevant experience; OR
Master’s Degree in Software Engineering or Computer Science with at least 1 year of relevant experience.
Proficiency in programming languages and frameworks (e.g., SQL, JavaScript, PHP, Python, Ruby, .NET, Perl).
Experience working with Linux infrastructures, Windows and Linux OS administration, and DBMS.
Strong understanding of networking (routing/switching), IT systems management, and software development methodologies.
Knowledge of IT planning, project implementation, and IT infrastructure management.
Familiarity with ITIL, PMP, CISSP, CISA, or other relevant certifications is an added advantage.
Excellent command of English; proficiency in French and Kinyarwanda is an added advantage.
Strong teamwork, organizational, and project management skills.
High integrity, professionalism, and attention to detail.
