About the Organisation
Since 1996, we have been formally called the Makerere University –Johns Hopkins University Research Collaboration after the US investigators moved from Case Western Reserve University to Johns Hopkins University.
In 1988, we started as a collaboration between researchers from Makerere University in Kampala and Case Western Reserve University in USA. Our founders were the late Prof. Francis A. Mmiro, the late Prof Christopher M. Ndugwa, Prof. Brooks Jackson and Prof. Laura Guay.
The Makerere University clinicians working at Mulago Hospital were seeing increasing numbers of patients with AIDS (“slim disease”), including infected pregnant women and babies; and the U.S. university investigators brought external funding, laboratory technology and other research endowments to help support the planned research activities.

Job Description
MU-JHU Research Collaboration (MU-JHU CARE LTD) is a Kampala based equal opportunities HIV/AIDS, TB and related clinical and implementation science research organization.
Students intending to pursue their internship with MU-JHU should submit their applications through this HR online application form
Only students from chartered institutions of learning will be given priority during the selection.
Duties and Responsibilities
Designing and implementing high-quality research projects that address the health needs and priorities of Uganda and the region.
Providing mentorship and training opportunities for researchers, students, and staff from both institutions.
Disseminating and translating research findings to inform policy and practice at local, national, and global levels.
Strengthening the research infrastructure and systems at MU and JHU, as well as collaborating with other partners and stakeholders.
Promoting ethical conduct and good governance in all aspects of the collaboration.
