Job Description
Based in Nairobi, the IT Intern will play a key role in providing end-user support and assisting in the deployment and maintenance of IT systems. The position involves collaboration with staff to identify system improvements, documenting procedures, and supporting digital innovations. The intern will troubleshoot hardware/software issues, maintain IT equipment, conduct training sessions, and ensure the timely resolution of support tickets via the internal helpdesk system. This opportunity offers valuable hands-on experience in a dynamic international development environment.
Duties, Roles and Responsibilities
Technology Innovation (10%)
Collaborate with staff to identify new or improved IT system needs
Document current and new systems efficiently
Support implementation and troubleshooting of IT innovations
End User / Technical Support (60%)
Provide daily IT support to staff on computers, software, and systems
Develop training materials and conduct user training
Troubleshoot technical issues via various communication channels
Perform preventive/corrective maintenance on IT equipment
Support data protection and IT security training
Assist with deploying new applications and systems
IT Helpdesk (30%)
Manage IT support requests using internal incident reporting tools
Log issues and actions taken for resolution
Escalate complex problems to appropriate vendors or specialists
Ensure timely resolution of support tickets according to KPIs
Qualifications, Education and Competencies
Minimum of an Advanced Diploma or Bachelor's Degree in IT or related field
Passion for innovation, business process automation, or analytics
Familiarity with User Experience (UX) Research and Design (a plus)
Basic programming knowledge in one or more general-purpose languages
Understanding of visualization tools like Power BI (a plus)
Familiarity with Microsoft Platforms (e.g., SharePoint, Power Apps)
Basic knowledge of system administration and networking
Strong communication, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills
