Job Description
Africa Global Logistics Uganda is seeking an experienced Human Resources Manager to provide both strategic and operational HR leadership. The role partners closely with the Managing Director, Regional HR Manager, and Heads of Departments to deliver business-aligned, people-centered HR solutions. The successful candidate will lead the full HR agenda, drive organizational development initiatives, and ensure compliance with labor laws and company policies while fostering a high-performance culture.
Duties, Roles and Responsibilities
Strategic HR & Policy Management
- Develop, implement, review, and continuously improve HR policies, procedures, and processes in line with legal and corporate requirements.
- Advise management on HR best practices, employee relations, and people management strategies.
- Translate business objectives into effective people strategies that support organizational performance.
Recruitment, Onboarding & Workforce Planning
- Manage the full recruitment lifecycle, including job advertising, shortlisting, interviews, selection, and onboarding.
- Partner with external recruitment agencies and stakeholders to attract and retain top talent.
- Support workforce planning and succession initiatives.
Payroll & HR Operations
- Oversee payroll processing to ensure timely, accurate, and confidential salary payments and statutory deductions.
- Ensure compliance with tax, social security, and labor regulations.
- Maintain accurate HR records and systems.
Employee Relations & Welfare
- Serve as the primary point of contact for union relations and Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) negotiations.
- Manage employee relations matters including grievances, disciplinary actions, performance improvement, and terminations.
- Promote employee engagement, wellbeing, and a positive work environment.
- Ensure compliance with Uganda Labour Laws and internal policies.
Learning, Development & Talent Management
- Conduct training needs analysis and develop annual training plans and budgets.
- Implement learning and development programs and assess their effectiveness.
- Design and manage leadership development, succession planning, and talent pipeline initiatives.
Performance Management & Manager Support
- Support managers in performance management, promotions, contract renewals, and disciplinary processes.
- Provide confidential counseling and advisory support to managers and employees.
Other Responsibilities
- Undertake additional duties as required to support the smooth operation of the HR Department and the organization as a whole.
