Job Description
Mayfair Insurance is seeking a competent and detail-oriented Underwriter to join its Kampala team. The successful candidate will be responsible for evaluating insurance risks, determining appropriate coverage terms, pricing policies accurately, and ensuring profitability while maintaining high underwriting standards. Duties, Roles and Responsibilities
- Assess, evaluate, and underwrite insurance risks in line with company underwriting guidelines and risk appetite.
- Review policy applications, supporting documentation, and risk information to determine acceptability and pricing.
- Issue quotations, policies, endorsements, and renewals accurately and within agreed timelines.
- Ensure compliance with internal underwriting standards, regulatory requirements, and reinsurance arrangements.
- Monitor portfolio performance and recommend corrective actions where necessary.
- Liaise with brokers, agents, and internal teams to provide underwriting support and guidance.
- Support claims and reinsurance teams by providing underwriting insights and technical input.
- Maintain accurate underwriting records and reports to support management decision-making.
- Contribute to product development, risk analysis, and continuous improvement of underwriting processes.
