Job Description
Job Title: Human Resource Officer
Organisation: Cairo Bank Uganda
Duty Station: Kampala, Uganda
Reports to: Head Human Resources
Job Summary:
The Human Resource Officer will implement and oversee HR operational practices for employees in strict alignment with company policies, procedures, and local labor regulations. The job holder shall coordinate all immigration-related activities for non-citizen employees, as well as manage preemployment processes and education verifications to ensure compliance with legal requirements. The job holder will take full responsibility for maintaining and organizing personal staff records, ensuring accurate filing and secure archiving of all employee documentation.
Duties, Roles and Responsibilities
Support the onboarding, offboarding, staff movements, leave management, insurance administration, and work visa processes with internal HR teams.
Prepare and issue all HR-related letters and documentation in a timely and accurate manner.
Support in timely payroll processing, ensuring that all statutory requirements are obliged with and verification of invoices before payments are done.
Maintain and update employees’ information and HR records in the HRMIS.
Handle HR audits by managing compliance, collecting and providing necessary information to the audit team, and contributing to successful audit outcome.
Initiate the staff vetting process in accordance with departmental policies to select qualified candidates and maintain compliance with organizational standards.
Manage the Cairo Bank Uganda’s medical scheme by registering employees and their dependants. Reconcile the schedule monthly, adding new employees and removing exited staff. Handle medical claims efficiently.
Maintain HR confidential records and oversee staff files, reporting and resolving any discrepancies or exceptions as necessary.
File documents weekly and update staff filing cabinets monthly for both active and exited employees.
Support in processing of staff benefits in line with HR Policy.
Submit weekly attendance reports summary to stakeholders.
Maintain and submit accurate monthly leave status reports to stakeholders.
Qualifications, Education and Competencies
Bachelor’s degree in human resource management or related field
Post Graduate Diploma or master’s degree in human resource management is an added advantage
Professional Human Resource Certification is an added advantage
Knowledge of the Uganda labour laws and familiarity with the International Labour laws
Experience.
At least 2 years’ experience in Human Resource Management.
