Position Summary:
Amani Sasa is seeking a committed and experienced Human Resource Manager to lead and support the development of a strong, Christ-centered organizational culture. The HR Manager is responsible for the full spectrum of human resource functions including recruitment, onboarding, employee relations, performance management, staff welfare, and compliance. This role also ensures alignment with Ugandan labor laws and organizational values, manages HR systems and records, and plays a strategic role in workforce planning and development. The HR Manager works closely with leadership to ensure HR practices are integrated into Amani Sasa’s mission and long-term goals.
Duties, Roles and Responsibilities
1. Staff Accountability & Performance Management
Oversee and implement performance management systems to drive excellence and accountability.
Coordinate probation reviews, mid-year evaluations, and annual performance appraisals.
Ensure timely submission of appraisal documentation and offer constructive feedback to staff.
2. Staff Welfare, Support & Development
Handle employee concerns, grievances, and conflict resolution in line with HR policies.
Promote a healthy, inclusive work environment and foster strong staff relations.
Identify staff training needs and organize capacity-building opportunities (courses, mentorships, guest speakers).
Work with the Counseling Department to promote staff well-being and mental health.
Conduct routine check-ins with support staff (kitchen, receptionist, cleaner).
Manage employee benefits, including leave planning, payroll updates, and medical insurance.
3. Recruitment, Onboarding & Offboarding
Lead recruitment efforts including job postings, application reviews, and interview coordination.
Facilitate comprehensive orientation for new staff, ensuring alignment with Amani Sasa’s values and policies.
Manage offboarding processes including documentation, exit interviews, and clearance.
4. HRIS & Compliance Management
Maintain up-to-date Human Resource Information System (HRIS) and physical personnel files.
Regularly review and update HR policies to ensure compliance with Ugandan labor laws.
Coordinate with the Finance team to ensure all staffing changes are reflected accurately.
5. Legal Compliance & Organizational Development
Submit timely HR reports (monthly, quarterly, annual) with key workforce data.
Collaborate with legal counsel on employment matters when necessary.
Liaise with the Division Labor Office to maintain full legal and regulatory compliance.
Qualifications, Education and Competencies

Strong planning, multitasking, and time management capabilities
Professional ethics and sound decision-making
Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team setting
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Human Resource Management or a related field
Minimum of 2–3 years’ experience in a human resources role
Prior HR experience in a multicultural or NGO setting is highly desirable
Proficiency in IT and computer applications relevant to HR functions
Solid understanding of HR best practices and employment law compliance in Uganda
