Position: Human Resource & Administration Manager

Location: Head Office, Kampala, Uganda
Reports To: Managing Director
Job Summary:
The Human Resource & Administration Manager will be responsible for leading and implementing the bank’s Human Resource strategy, driving key areas such as talent acquisition, employee relations, compensation and benefits, performance management, compliance, training & development, and overall organizational effectiveness. The role also involves oversight of administrative functions and ensuring alignment with local labor laws and best HR practices.

How to Apply
Develop and implement Yako Bank’s HR strategic plan, aligned with the overall organizational goals.
Lead initiatives for talent acquisition, retention, and development.
Serve as a strategic advisor to senior leadership on HR and personnel matters.
Foster a workplace culture that reflects Yako Bank’s vision, mission, and core values.
Oversee budget planning and expenditure control for the HR function.
Ensure compliance with employment laws, internal policies, and industry regulations.
Lead the recruitment, training, motivation, and evaluation of HR staff.
Liaise with legal counsel on employment law issues as necessary.
Develop and update HR policies and procedures to support effective people management.
Maintain accurate and compliant employee records, benefits, and administrative files.
Conduct regular HR audits and risk assessments, ensuring prompt resolution of identified gaps.
Manage and maintain the HRIS system, ensuring data accuracy and security.
Drive performance management, including implementation of a new Performance Management System (PMS).
Lead change management and culture transformation initiatives.
Promote employee engagement through structured motivation programs and internal communications.
Stay updated with industry trends and innovations to inform HR practices and strategies.
Oversee office administration to support smooth day-to-day operations.
Bachelor’s degree in Human Resource Management, Organizational Psychology, Social Sciences, or related fields.
Postgraduate qualification in a Human Resource-related discipline.
Membership in the Human Resource Association of Uganda is an added advantage.
At least 10 years of experience in HR practice, 5 of which must be at a supervisory level, preferably within a financial institution.
Demonstrated experience in driving culture transformation and organizational change.
Solid understanding of Ugandan labor laws and banking policies and procedures.
Strong knowledge of people management principles, compliance standards, and HR best practices.
