Job Description
The HR Officer plays a critical role in guiding and managing all HR-related functions within the British High Commission. This includes overseeing performance management, employee relations, training and development, recruitment, compliance with employment policies and audits, and contributing to positive workplace culture. The role also includes line management responsibilities, strategic liaison with HR teams across the UK government, and participation in cross-functional committees such as L&D and Wellbeing. The post holder will work closely with internal and external stakeholders, including HR Hubs and local service providers.

Develop and monitor HR policies and procedures in coordination with UK-based HR teams.
Foster a positive and inclusive work culture; support internal committees and staff networks.
Manage performance appraisal processes and drive high performance initiatives.
Support training needs assessments and oversee L&D program implementation.
Oversee compliance with legal and audit requirements; support fraud prevention initiatives.
Support recruitment efforts, onboarding, and orientation for new staff.
Manage job descriptions, staff exits, and conduct exit interviews.
Supervise payroll operations, pay budgeting, and employment contract administration.
Maintain accurate HR records aligned with the UK Data Protection Act (2018).
Administer and manage CBS medical scheme and supplier contracts.
Qualifications, Education and Competencies
Essential:
A diploma or qualification in HR or Administration.
Strong communication (written and oral) and interpersonal skills.
Ability to maintain confidentiality and demonstrate integrity.
Excellent organizational and prioritization skills.
Desirable:
Experience working in diplomatic or international environments.
Familiarity with UK HR systems and standards is an advantage.
