Job Description

The position holder will be responsible for setting the strategic direction of SME/Commercial Banking within NMB Bank Plc, including portfolio growth, client acquisition, and product development. The role requires providing leadership to the SME/Commercial teams, overseeing sales and business development initiatives, managing risk-return trade-offs, and ensuring compliance with credit policies and regulatory standards. The Head will act as a trusted advisor to clients, delivering tailored financial solutions, while simultaneously driving the bank’s profitability through deposits growth, fee income generation, and sustainable lending practices. The position further requires active engagement in business networking, managing customer relationships, and motivating teams to achieve both individual and unit objectives.

How to Apply

  • Develop and implement strategies for SME/Commercial Banking growth and profitability.

  • Launch and manage NMB Business Executive Networks to enhance client engagement.

  • Motivate, coach, and develop the team to achieve business objectives.

  • Safeguard the bank by adhering to sound risk management practices and ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Finance, or related discipline (Master’s degree is an added advantage).

  • Minimum of 7 years of progressive experience in business development, sales management, or credit within the banking sector.

  • At least 5 years’ experience in business banking management at a senior leadership level.

  • Strong knowledge of SME/Commercial banking products, services, and processes.

  • Proven success in sales and business development.

  • Strong leadership, interpersonal, and people management skills.

  • Excellent credit analysis, negotiation, and decision-making skills.

  • Strong organizational, analytical, and strategic thinking capabilities.

  • Ability to work independently and under pressure.

  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
