Bugema University is a private, co-educational institution of higher learning located in Kalagala, Luweero District, Uganda, approximately 33 kilometers northeast of Kampala. Established in 1948 as the Bugema Missionary Training School to train teachers and pastors for the Seventh-day Adventist Church in East Africa, it evolved into Bugema Missionary College and later Bugema Adventist College.
In 1994, it attained university status, and in 1997, it was licensed by the Uganda Ministry of Education and Sports to operate as a university. Affiliated with the Seventh-day Adventist Church, Bugema University is part of the global Seventh-day Adventist education system, the world's second-largest Christian school system.
The university offers a diverse range of academic programs across various disciplines, including Business Administration, Education, Theology and Religious Studies, Science and Technology, Agriculture and Applied Sciences, Health and Allied Sciences, and Social Sciences.
It provides undergraduate, postgraduate, and doctoral programs, some in collaboration with international institutions like the University of Eastern Africa, Baraton (Kenya), and Central Luzon State University (Philippines). The university's mission is to offer an excellent and distinctive holistic Christian education designed to prepare students, through training, research, and scholarship, for productive lives of service to God and the community with integrity, encapsulated in its motto: "Excellence in Service."

The Technician will play a vital role in supporting teaching and research activities by managing laboratory operations, preparing materials, ensuring adherence to safety protocols, and providing technical assistance to both staff and students. The position is based on a three-year renewable contract upon satisfactory performance.

How to Apply
Maintain and calibrate laboratory equipment.
Prepare reagents, samples, and other materials required for practical sessions.
Ensure compliance with health and safety standards in the lab.
Assist lecturers and students in carrying out experiments and practicals.
Manage inventory of laboratory supplies and equipment.
Provide technical support for research activities.
Maintain accurate records of laboratory activities and incidents.
Report any malfunction or need for repair to the Head of Department.
Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant technical discipline with at least First Class or Second Class Upper Division.
Applicants with a Second Class Lower Division may be considered under special circumstances.
Ordinary Diploma (Credit or above) in a relevant field.
At least three (3) years of experience as an Assistant Technician or equivalent.
Specialization or experience in Nutrition is preferred.
Strong technical and practical knowledge in laboratory management.
Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work independently and within a team.
