Bugema University is a private, co-educational institution of higher learning located in Kalagala, Luweero District, Uganda, approximately 33 kilometers northeast of Kampala. Established in 1948 as the Bugema Missionary Training School to train teachers and pastors for the Seventh-day Adventist Church in East Africa, it evolved into Bugema Missionary College and later Bugema Adventist College.
In 1994, it attained university status, and in 1997, it was licensed by the Uganda Ministry of Education and Sports to operate as a university. Affiliated with the Seventh-day Adventist Church, Bugema University is part of the global Seventh-day Adventist education system, the world's second-largest Christian school system.

Job Description
The Senior Field Technician (Agriculture) and Laboratory Technician (Biologicals) will be responsible for maintaining lab and field equipment, preparing materials for practical and research activities, and ensuring safety procedures are followed. These roles will provide direct support to teaching staff and students in conducting experiments, research, and agricultural practices. Successful candidates will be offered a renewable three-year contract subject to satisfactory performance.
Duties, Roles and Responsibilities
Maintain and monitor laboratory and field equipment.
Prepare specimens, reagents, and materials for teaching and research purposes.
Ensure laboratory and field safety protocols are adhered to at all times.
Provide technical assistance to academic staff and students.
Support the delivery of practical lessons and student projects.
Monitor and manage stock of consumables and request replenishments.
Keep accurate records of laboratory and field activities.
Report technical issues to the Head of Department promptly.
Qualifications, Education and Competencies
Bachelor’s Degree (First Class or Second Class Upper Division) in a relevant technical discipline.
Applicants with a Second Class Lower Division will be considered under special circumstances.
Ordinary Diploma (Credit or above) in a related field is essential.
Minimum of three (3) years of work experience in a similar role, especially at the level of Assistant Technician or equivalent.
Strong practical knowledge of biological and agricultural laboratory/field practices.
Good communication, organizational, and teamwork skills.
Attention to detail, integrity, and commitment to quality work.
