Mbarara University of Science and Technology (MUST), a public university located in Mbarara City (7 km along the Mbarara-Bushenyi Road), invites applications from suitably qualified Ugandans to fill the following vacant positions.
MUST’s vision is to be a Centre of Academic and Professional Excellence in Science and Technology. In pursuit of this goal, the University seeks to recruit highly competent and motivated individuals to contribute to the delivery of quality education and community development.
VACANT POSITIONS
Dean of Students
Department: Office of the Dean of Students
No. of Posts: 1
Salary Scale: PU3 (NTNS)
Reports to: Vice Chancellor
Tenure: 5-year renewable contract (based on performance)
Duties, Roles and Responsibilities
Advise university leadership on student welfare and discipline
Oversee student accommodation, health, guidance, and counselling services
Enforce student policies and regulations
Coordinate student associations, leadership development, and sports
Support the Students’ Guild and manage conflict resolution
Mediate student off-campus accommodation matters
Supervise departmental staff and manage departmental budget

Qualifications, Education and Competencies
Master’s degree in Counselling, Psychology, Sociology, Education, HR Management, or related fields
Honours Bachelor’s degree from a recognized institution
Minimum 10 years of experience in higher education; 5 years at senior management level
4 years of experience working directly with students is an added advantage
Strong leadership, communication, and conflict resolution skills
Age: 40–50 years (as of January 2026)
