Job Description
Reporting to the Senior Program Officer - Locum and under the technical guidance of the Community & PSS Advisor, the Community & PSS Officer will coordinate planning and implementation of integrated HIV/TB community interventions, including psychosocial support for adults and children living with HIV. They will support community case finding, linkage to care, adherence support, and treatment continuity. The Officer will work closely with community health workers such as expert clients, youth peers, and cough monitors to enhance service delivery and ensure robust data use for improvement. Additional responsibilities include contributing to training and mentoring of community teams, participating in routine screenings, documenting success stories, and generating timely reports.
Duties, Roles and Responsibilities
Support district/site teams in planning and implementing community HIV/TB programs including HIV testing, PMTCT/EID, and care & treatment services.
Supervise and support community health workers in targeted HIV case finding and linkage to care for children, adolescents, and adults.
Strengthen appointment keeping and return-to-care systems for TB and HIV clients.
Implement community psychosocial support interventions for PLHIV, TB patients, and exposed infants.
Monitor sputum follow-up and TB treatment completion.
Coordinate skilling of Community Health Extension Workers (CHEWs).
Lead or support routine community-level data collection, analysis, and use for quality improvement.
Document and report promising practices and success stories.
Participate in HIV, TB, and NCD screening activities at the community and facility levels.
Develop costed activity plans, implementation reports, and submit them within required timelines.
Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
Qualifications, Education and Competencies
Bachelor’s degree in Social Sciences, Community Development, Community Health, or Nursing.
A postgraduate qualification in Public Health, Sociology, or Community Health is an added advantage.
Minimum of 3 years’ experience working with donor-funded HIV/TB programs at the district and community level.
Strong communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills.
Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
Ability to work collaboratively with community and health facility teams.
Willingness to travel and work in rural settings.
