About the Role
Absa Bank Uganda is looking for a Business Development Manager – Bancassurance to support the growth and strategic development of its insurance business across Retail and Business Banking segments. This role is instrumental in driving insurance product sales, renewals, client service, and the overall insurance business performance, with a strong focus on building internal and external partnerships.

How to Apply
Business Development & Sales Management
Lead the planning and achievement of annual sales targets across multiple sales channels.
Drive daily sales activity and pipeline management; provide regular performance reporting.
Work closely with Branch Managers, Relationship Managers, and other sales teams to generate and convert leads.
Oversee insurance placement for all bank-secured assets (e.g., VAF).
Track renewals to ensure a minimum of 90% retention on existing insurance policies.
Identify and pursue cross-sell and upsell opportunities across the bank’s customer base.
Develop and implement sales incentive programs aligned with company goals.
Build and manage relationships with insurance partners and underwriters.
Conduct bi-weekly business reviews with insurance partners to assess product performance and strategy alignment.
Training & Team Leadership
Identify training needs across sales channels and organize relevant capacity-building sessions.
Mentor and guide Bancassurance Officers, Sales Managers, and other team members to meet performance goals.
Support compliance with all regulatory and internal procedural requirements.
Promote ownership and accountability among team members for customer issues, service delivery, and complaint resolution.
Administration & Compliance
Coordinate and oversee all Bancassurance-related activities within designated business units.
Ensure all insurance documentation and records are accurately processed, filed, and compliant with SLA and legal standards.
Maintain close oversight of claims handling and complaint escalation processes.
Ensure all assets financed by the bank are adequately insured, and policy documents are valid and updated.
Prepare timely and accurate reports and dashboards for senior management.
Customer Service & Relationship Management
Serve as the escalation point for complex insurance queries and complaints.
Collaborate with internal departments and operations teams to improve customer experiences and turnaround times.
Engage clients, partners, and regulators to ensure the Bancassurance function operates efficiently and within policy.
Education:
A minimum of a Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Business, Commerce, Insurance, or related field.
Additional certification or training in insurance or financial services is an added advantage.
Experience:
Extensive experience in bancassurance or insurance sales (preferably in a bank or financial institution).
Demonstrated success in leading high-performing sales teams and managing multiple sales channels.
Strong familiarity with insurance regulations and compliance requirements in Uganda.
